As chair of Governors I would like to welcome you to Meadow Lane’s Website. I hope you find the site useful, and we welcome any feedback on what you would like to see.

I started as a Parent governor, a number of years ago, as my two children started and worked their way through Meadow Lane. My day job is in telecommunications (Ericsson) and my general interests tend to be technically biased.

Despite my children moving on from Meadow Lane, I became very interested in the work at the school and I am currently a ‘Community Governor’ which means I am voted onto the Governing body by the other members into one of the three positions reserved for members of the local community. Governors serve for four year terms, after which they have to be re-elected.

The governing body is responsible for overseeing the running of the school, and ensuring we achieve the best value for the children out of the funds we receive each year.

We frequently have vacancies for Parent governors, and I would encourage any parent to consider coming forward and giving us some of their time to continue to make Meadow Lane an outstanding school.

Should anyone be interested please feel free to contact me or any other governor via the school.

If you need to contact me confidentially about any issues please feel free to use this email address

I am a Parent Governor with three daughters, two currenctly at Meadow Lane (in Year 1 and Year 2), and my third born in 2014.  I work as a mechanical engineer for a rail vehicle design and manufacturing company in Derby.  I am currently the Chief Engineer for a new train project for Transport for London.  I am keen to ensure that all our children at Meadow Lane are happy and secure and receive the best possible education.  I am particularly interested in how we can foster a love of science, maths and engineering right from the start!

I was appointed as a parent governor in 2014 and have a daughter in Reception at Meadow Lane and a little boy due to start in 2016. I am a working mum and during my career in sales and marketing I have had lots of experience managing budgets, forecasting and project planning – which should come in handy as I now sit on the finance committee. I am in the playground most days so do feel free to come over and have a chat. I have recently taken on the role of training governor.

Tim Caldwell – Parent Governor

I am a Parent Governor with a daughter currently in Reception. I also happen to have attended Meadow Lane as my Infant school a number of years ago and I have a great affection for the school.  I work in Education and have been teaching for 10 years. I am passionate about ensuring children receive a fantastic education. My interests are mostly sport-related and I particularly enjoy running and cycling, cricket and football.

Richard Sample - Parent Governor

Comittees - P&P

I live in Beeston and have three children at

Meadow Lane, College House, Alderman White. Since moving to Beeston from London in 2002 I have worked for Nottinghamshire County Council managing the Mobile Detached Youth Service, Family Learning and currently manage The Co-production Project  which is a county wide community mental health project structured around the 5 Steps to well-being (Connect, Keep Learning, Be Active, Take Notice and Give). I have also been a multi-disciplinary special needs teacher specialising in Asperger's , Autistic Spectrum and Challenging Behaviour. I taught music in London and travelled the world playing in bands. I  play  guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and write songs and children's stories. I think Meadow Lane is a fantastic school with an amazing head teacher and staff team. I am passionate about engaging people with the life long educational journey, as it can be a vehicle for transformation and developing inner potential. My educational approach is usually around the Creative Arts and building positive relationships so that people can improve their awareness of what they are capable of.
